Mike Furr, a graduate of the University of Florida, is the founding partner and Principal of Furr & Wegman Architects, P.A. Among his responsibilities is establishing the strategic direction of the firm and fostering the firm’s creative process.
Mike is a very experienced architect who has, for more than 40 years, designed high profile projects in the Central Florida area from places of worship to university buildings.
Perhaps the best showcase of Mike’s creative talent is in his repertoire of non-traditional architectural projects. For example, thousands of children enjoy Common Ground playground in Lakeland, which was designed especially for the enjoyment of handicapped children. Other such projects include a rose garden at Florida Southern College, its tennis center and the Polk County Peace Officers Memorial.
The Community benefits from his creativity as well. Multiple non-profits have unique fundraisers thanks to Mike’s creative mind. One of the most unusual and interesting contributions was a birthday cake for VISTE’s 25th birthday, a “cake” made of food cans!
Mike and his wife, Anne live in Lakeland.
